ATTENTION: STATE OFFICER CANDIDATES NEEDED

As a member of NCAEOP, have you taken the time to consider the fine organization to which you belong? You have found the perfect blend of professionalism and personal caring. You should be very proud of this. Do you feel the intense pride about the way your association conducts its business meetings, its workshops, and its conference? You should. Do you not want to be a leader in this association? It's time to take the next step and submit your name to Nominations and Elections to serve as a State Officer. How, you may ask, do I go about doing this?

First of all, to submit your application for President Elect, Vice President, or Secretary, you must meet the requirements as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual. These may also be located on the web site. Certain membership and participation criteria are required. But in addition to those guidelines, you may wonder, "How many days in a year will I be out of my office? Are all my expenses covered? What happens if I am sick and cannot attend meetings? Just how much work is involved?

How much work is involved? That's a question without an answer. The president prepares her agenda and presides at each board of directors meeting. Board meetings and conference coordinator meetings are usually just over-night trips. The vice president is responsible for membership recruitment, and the secretary responsible to keep accurate minutes of the meetings.

As a state officer, you are asked to attend 4 board meetings per year. Usually, they are at the Sheraton in Greensboro . These board meetings are held in March (following the conference), June, November, and again in March (prior to the conference). Mileage, meals, and hotel expenses are paid for you to attend the June and November meetings. The conference meetings are covered by whomever pays for your conference registration. In addition, the president is allotted funds to attend other meetings to which she attends as a representative of NCAEOP, including attendance to the National Association Meeting held each year in July. She is given a small gift of appreciation and a plaque at the end of her year of service.

Some presidents choose to give small gifts to her board of directors at her installation ceremony and at each board meeting. These gifts are a choice and responsibility of the president. Usually, the local and district EOP associations of the incoming president will have fund raisers to assist her in these expenses.

As President Elect, you are allotted a budget of $2,500.00 to prepare and print your Handbook for the following year. You have a budget of $1,000.00 to purchase items such as notebooks, etc. to prepare for your incoming board of directors. The association pays up to $1,000.00 towards your President Elect's Reception, should you decide to do this. You are allotted $1,000.00 to help on your expense to the National Association Meeting held each year in July.

Vice Presidents and Secretaries usually do not have additional expenses beyond association paid board meetings. If they are designated to attend district meetings, the districts are responsible for their expenses.

So, get on board, become involved, show your leadership skills. NCAEOP needs you today. Complete your application (click here) now. Fill this out and submit it to Mary Alston by October 10.
